Terms of Service

Last updated: January 1, 2026

Acceptance of terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of services provided by KJ Notary & Loan Signing Services (“KJ Notary,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By booking, requesting, or receiving our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

Description of services

KJ Notary & Loan Signing Services provides mobile notary public services, loan signing agent services, field and property inspections, process serving, apostille assistance, and estate planning document signings throughout central and western Minnesota. Katie J. Fridgen is a commissioned Minnesota Notary Public and licensed closing agent.

Booking & scheduling

Appointments may be requested by phone, text, email, or through our website. Availability is not guaranteed until confirmed. We make reasonable efforts to accommodate your preferred time and location, including evenings and weekends.

Fees & payment

Fees vary based on the type of service, number of signatures/notarizations, travel distance, and any rush or after-hours requirements. Pricing will be communicated to you before your appointment is confirmed. Payment is due at the time of service unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Cancellations & rescheduling

We understand plans change. Please notify us as early as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule. Repeated last-minute cancellations or no-shows may result in a cancellation fee or a requirement of prepayment for future appointments.

Client responsibilities

To ensure a smooth appointment, you agree to:

  • Have a valid, unexpired, government-issued photo ID available
  • Not sign any documents before the notary arrives — signatures must be made in the notary’s presence
  • Ensure all signers required for the document(s) are present and willing to sign
  • Provide accurate information about the type of document(s) needing notarization
  • Provide a safe, reasonably accessible location for the appointment

Notarial limitations

As a Minnesota Notary Public, Katie J. Fridgen performs notarial acts in accordance with Minnesota law. She cannot provide legal advice, prepare legal documents, or explain the legal effect of a document. If you have questions about the content or legal implications of a document, please consult an attorney before your appointment. A notary may decline to notarize a document if signer identification cannot be verified, if the signer appears unwilling or coerced, or if the notarization would violate Minnesota law.

SMS & communications

By providing your phone number, you may receive text messages related to your appointment (confirmations, reminders, and responses). Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out at any time or HELP for assistance. Consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of purchasing any service. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle your information.

Limitation of liability

KJ Notary & Loan Signing Services performs notarial acts and related services with reasonable care and in accordance with Minnesota law. However, to the fullest extent permitted by law, KJ Notary shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use of our services, including but not limited to delays, errors in documents not caused by our notarial act, or third-party actions (e.g., lender, title company, or attorney requirements). Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the fees paid for the specific service in question.

Dispute resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or our services will first be addressed through good-faith direct communication. If unresolved, disputes shall be governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, and any legal proceedings shall take place in the applicable Minnesota county.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
